The Magic of Hummingbirds (MOH) workshop was both photographically successful and an enjoyable experience. Beyond my own camera and lens, Lisa and her team provided the setting, lodging, technical equipment, and training needed to capture hummingbirds in flight, with their wings frozen in exquisite detail. During this September session, I also captured enchanting images of bats in flight after dark. For this photography, the team provided a laser ranging and detection system to trigger the strobes, which illuminated subjects entering an otherwise dark frame. I vaguely understood how such a system worked before signing up, but seeing it in operation was a profound experience. And wow, there were bats all around unheard, never felt, and unseen except during a strobe flash. Lisa also hosted a Photoshop demonstration and question-and-answer session that left me with plenty of notes and ideas to follow up on at home. I tend to plod along in the digital darkroom, but many of the techniques she demonstrated will find their way into my own workflow. I am mostly a DIY photographer, but I have participated in four multi-day nature photography workshops. MOH is the only one that has earned my complete endorsement. I look forward to participating in more Langell Photography workshops.

I thoroughly enjoyed this workshop - one of the best I have taken! Instructors were helpful & instructive. Setting was beautiful. Cabins were clean & comfortable. Review of photos was helpful. Now I need to work on learning Photoshop to edit my hummingbirds & bats! Videos will be a great help! Thanks to Lisa, Kim & Dan! 💕 PS. Really enjoyed the other photographers as well. Friendly group.

Trip was extremely well planned, liked the small group, felt the vendors were fantastic. Food was exceptional (thanks Barb)! Really appreciated the extra effort you made to ensure that we had an entire day of bears when Monday's weather was bad. This could not have been easy and really made the trip memorable. Appreciated that you were open to helping everyone on the trip - even those not using professional equipment. Liked that you sought continuous feedback so you could address/correct any things that needed changing to make the trip better. Really liked the session when we shared favorite photos. It would be nice to tell people beforehand to bring their favorite photos and share them the first night we are together. It is a great way to learn more about the people in your group. Even non-photographers could share photos they like (even if they are not technically outstanding). Overall it was a great trip and we look forward to sharing the photos in November. Roger and Tacy

The workshop truly provided the "magic" of hummingbirds and -- happily -- bats. The "homework" sent out before the conference enabled me to hit the ground running and get some great photos. Lisa and her team make learning fun and memorable. And the weather was great! Thanks!

This was a fascinating but also relaxing experience, in the cool highlands near Tucson. I learned a lot and got some great images. Be sure to stock up on three days' food for your cabin before you arrive. The workshop keeps you too busy to go grocery shopping during the fun!
